ISTEP+ testing will continue this week at 7:30 am on Tuesday. Please do not plan doctor/dental appointments that day and avoid being tardy to school. Students should be prepared for testing by getting good rest and proper nutrition. Come to school with your FULLY-CHARGED Chromebook! Giddy up, Colts, and let's rock the ISTEP!

There will be NO tutoring or Homework Help this week due to ISTEP+ testing and make-ups.

Science Academic Super Bowl Team will meet tomorrow from 2:30-3:15 pm.

This Friday, April 28, we will be having a hat day. Cost is $.50 in first period and proceeds go to the Boys and Girls Club and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Also this Friday, we will be hosting a 3 on 3 basketball tournament after school. Each team must have one boy and one girl. Sign-up sheets are by the gym. Cost is $9/team. Money can be turned in to Mr. Hamilton in Room 205.

The Monroe County 4-H Program is putting on a Natural Resource/Ecology Field Day at Flatwoods Park this Saturday, April 29. The event is open to all students in grades 3 through 12, even if they are not a 4-H member. There will be professionals from four different natural resource/ecology career areas conducting hands-on activities and teaching about what makes a habitat healthy. More information will be forthcoming.

The Ellettsville Parks & Recreation Board is holding an essay contest for its Memorial Day Program, with the following rules and prizes:
Essay contest is open to children in grades 1-12, with one overall winner from grades 1-6 and one overall winner from grades 7-12. The subject is "The True Meaning of Memorial Day." Word range is 500-750 words and the deadline for submission is April 30, 2017. Contact hnethery2@yahoo.com with questions and to submit an entry. Authors relinquish all rights to the winning essays. These essays can be reprinted and/or posted at the Ellettsville Parks Board's discretion, and may be edited for spelling, punctuation, and/or grammar issues.
The two winners will read their essays at the Memorial Day Program on May 29th. If either of them is not available, the name will be announced and the essay will be read at the program by someone else. The winning essays will be printed in the Journal, after the Memorial Day program, with a photo of the winners. There will also be gift card prizes, to be announced at a later date.

The PTO is having a meeting tonight at 6:30 pm in the library. Please feel free to pop in while your child is having his or her physical. Meetings usually last less than an hour. Please see the attached FLYER for more information about the PTO. We would love to see you there!

Eighth grade students interested in joining Color Guard at EHS next school year should plan to attend tryouts tomorrow, April 25, and Thursday, April 27, from 6-8 pm in the main gym at EHS. Color Guard is a combination of dance and equipment. As a member, you would perform alongside the marching band during parades, half-time shows, and all across the state of Indiana in competitions against other marching bands - including Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis! Athletic Physicals for Edgewood High School and Junior High School students will be offered this evening in the main gym at EHS. Physicals will take place from 6-8:30 pm and the cost is $20 (cash or checks made payable to Edgewood High School). Please enter through Door 6 at the back of Edgewood High School.
