Harmony 3 Family Access

We are switching our current Harmony Parent/Student portal to the New Harmony 3 Family Access and all parents should have received an email with the link to log in, as well as instructions for the setup. If you have not yet setup the new Family Access, please do so as soon as possible because the old version will be turned off on March 17th.

One of the advantages of the new Harmony 3 Family Access is that it allows parents and students to have separate accounts with their own user names and passwords to access information as well as set notifications. Because the accounts are separate, students will not be able to make changes to any of the settings made by parents.

In the new program you will be able to add all your students into one login and to see the following:

Progress Reports

Attendance

Discipline

Homework Agenda

Online Payments

Push Notification

The new site link is:

Harmony 3 Family Access

The link is also posted on the corporation as well as each building website.

We hope you enjoy the features of the new site.

4th Graders Visit Indiana State House

image
Our fourth graders had an amazing opportunity to attend the annual First Lady’s Tree Trim program at the State House. We arrived at school at 7:45 a.m. and were on our way before most students arrived at school for the day! This gave us time to walk to the State House and clear security before the program started. The special program included meeting Governor and Mrs. Pence, Santa and Mrs. Claus and hearing a wonderful middle school show choir sing some Christmas tunes. Many of the students got to shake Governor and Mrs. Pence’s hand, what a special experience! We learned about how Christmas trees are grown, harvested and even how we can recycle them after Christmas is over. Governor Pence read T’was the Night before Christmas to the students and shared how it was the Pence family holiday tradition to read it to their children on Christmas Eve. Mrs. Pence then took the fourth graders to the craft activity. She has taught for over 25 years in elementary classrooms, including art, so she was very excited to teach this craft to us. The students made an old fashioned Christmas tree ornament from twigs, gathered from the Governor’s Mansion, and strips of fabric tied on to the twig then cut to make the shape of a tree. They were fun to make and very special and unique to have. After we made our craft, we moved to the Capitol Rotunda where representatives from kindergarten to 5th grade lit a tree, including a very large one that represented all the people of Indiana.

Prior to our visit, we used this experience to learn about our executive branch of government and the roles of the Governor and First Lady. The students learned about the history of the State House and were very excited to see first-hand what we had talked about in the classroom. They found the stained glass dome of the rotunda, made in 1888, very beautiful and an incredible sight to see! We couldn’t leave without taking a picture on the steps outside the State House to capture the moment.

After an exciting morning we could not wait for lunch! We stopped at Steak ‘N Shake in Martinsville and had a delicious meal. The staff at the restaurant was very complimentary of our students’ manners and behavior.

This trip was truly an unforgettable experience for all of us!

SES Spell Bowl Places First!

image
On Thursday, November 19th, our SES Spell Bowl Team competed in the regional Indiana Spell Bowl held in Mooresvile, IN. Our team placed first in their division! The SES team was comprised of 4th and 5th grade students who tried out earlier in the year. Students met two times each week for the past two months, working to memorize over 750 words! The Spell Bowl competition is sponsored by Purdue University and the Indiana Association of School Principals each year. A special “thank you” goes to our Spell Bowl Coaches, Miss Blackard and Miss Krevda. Congratulations to our wonderful team in the state competition, bringing home first place for their site. Our students were excellent ambassadors for SES and the Stinesville community.
