100 Days of School!

100 Days of School!
Monday was the 100th day of school, and the Stinesville Kindergarten class had fun celebrating this special day!  The students participated in numerous 100 day activities and many students (and teachers) even dressed up like 100 year olds.  There were plenty of canes, reading glasses, and gray hair all around!  The class read several 100 day books, experimented to see how many activities they could do in 100 seconds, and even had some yummy 100 day cupcakes!  It’s amazing to think that we’ve been in school 100 days already.  The students have learned and grown so much.  We can’t wait to see what the next 80 days have in store for us!

VEX IQ Robotics Competition

VEX IQ Robotics Competition
On Saturday, January 21, 2017, students from Edgewood Primary School, Edgewood Intermediate School, and Stinesville Elementary School competed in the first annual Richland-Bean Blossom VEX IQ Robotics Competition at Stinesville Elementary.  In addition to these three schools, there were seven other schools that participated in the event from surrounding counties.  Students worked in teams during the first semester of the school year to build a robot that was able to move balls from one area of a field to another in a one minute time frame.  In partnerships, students worked collaboratively with a pair from another school to accumulate points toward a teamwork challenge.  The competition focused on communication, teamwork, and problem solving.

All three schools were able to participate in this venture thanks to a grant from the TechPoint Foundation for Youth, and all three elementaries look forward to continue growing the program in future years. For more information, you can search “VEX IQ” online.
