STEAM Night Success!

Thank you to all who participated, presented, judged, showcased or supported STEAM Night at EPS and EIS last night! The event was a HUGE success with an unbelievable turnout!

A special thanks to our three (wildly popular) food vendors: The Big Cheeze, La Poblana and 812 BBQ! Despite the rain, they were kept busy throughout the evening!   Thank you also to all our community partners: Science fair judges, Baxter Scientific, Cook Aviation, Go Green, Ray Amos Plastics, Parks and Recreation, Scaily Tailz, Ivy Tech, Boys & Girls Club of Ellettsville, Purdue Extension/4H, LEAP, IU Makerspace, and our own EHS engineering students!  Thank you especially, to all of our student leaders had the courage to step up, share their work with peers and families - they're sure to be representing STEAM-related community partners themselves some day!

We hope you all enjoyed the showcase of hard work and innovative learning your children were able to share with families!

Fifth Grade Students at EIS

image

Over the last six weeks, fifth grade students have been learning the fifty states, capitals, and abbreviations. As a culminating activity, students in each class competed against one another on an interactive game. The goal was to see who could identify all fifty states with the most accuracy in the least amount of time. The winners from each classroom then competed against one another. The overall winner, Gretchen Mundy, correctly identified all 50 states in 62 seconds! Brayden White was the runner up. Nice job, fifth graders!

Fifth Grade Classes Celebrating the Hour of Code

image
The Hour of Code is a global movement that introduces students to computer science and show that anyone can learn the basics of coding. Mrs. Milliern's and Mrs. DeMoss's classes particpated in activiities celebrating the Hour of Code this past week. Led by Garrison DeMoss, a Five-Star programmer, and Megan Abbott, a former RBB teacher who now teaches in the IU Kelly School of Business, the students were introduced to the basic idea of computer languages through a simulation game. The students used coding language to tell a "robot" to move cups around to achieve specific configuartions of the cups. After this hands-on simulation, the students then logged onto the code.org website to practice the newly acquired coding skills!

HArmony 3 Access for Parents and Sudents

Announcing the new Harmony 3 Family Access for Parents and Students!

We are switching our current Harmony Parent/Student portal to the New Harmony 3 Family Access and all parents should have received an email with the link to log in, as well as instructions for the setup. Everyone needs to register with the new credentials, as we will eventually be turning off the current version of the program.

One of the advantages of the new Harmony 3 Family Access is that it allows parents and students to have separate accounts with their own user names and passwords to access information as well as set notifications. Because the accounts are separate, students will not be able to make changes to any of the settings made by parents.

In the new program you will be able add all your students into one login and to see the following:

Progress Reports

Attendance

Discipline

Homework Agenda

Online Payments

Push Notification

The new site link is:

https://harmony.rbbcsc.k12.in.us/familyaccess.nsf/hello.xsp

The link is also posted on the corporation as well as each building website.

We hope you enjoy the features of the new site.
